BIO 662: Ethical Issues in Human Genetics and Genomics

This course addresses different types of ethical issues in the context of research in genetics and genomics. We will discuss different case studies that illustrate moral problems and dilemmas that researchers in this field may encounter. Moreover, we will talk about social impacts and consequences of research in genetic and genomics. We will particularly focus on ethical issues raised by these developments and the role and responsibility of scientists in these discourses. To prepare these practical
discussions of ethical issues, the course also provides a general introduction to some central ethical theories and concepts.
