Speaking with Confidence and Impact

Do you want to have more impact when delivering a presentation? Do you want to deliver your message with more clarity, and build more connection with your audience? Or do you simply want to be able to be more relaxed and ‘yourself’ when speaking to groups?
For those people who already feel comfortable presenting, we work to strengthen your confidence and charisma, developing your ability to be more authentic and have more professional impact when you speak.
For those who experience nerves when speaking to a group, we look at new ways of transforming them. What are we actually dealing with? How can we experience public speaking as energizing and even enjoyable?
This workshop is not about tips, tricks and techniques. It’s about building genuine strength as a presenter – from the inside out. If you bring an attitude of open curiosity and a willingness to try something new, you might be surprised by what is possible.
We’ll be using a variety of exercises and group work, including video, to help you

  • allow yourself to relax into the role of speaker/presenter and strengthen your professional presence
  • develop your ability to use eye-contact to engage with individuals and the group
  • strengthen your capacity to remain open and flexible in the speaker/presenter role
  • practice delivering your presentations in a more confident and connected way
  • get your point across more clearly, with more impact, and make your presentation more memorable

ECTS: 1.0. PhD students of the Life Science Zurich Graduate School have priority. External students can register to the waiting list and will be accepted if the course is not fully booked.

It is not recommended to take both courses "Speaking with Confidence & Impact" AND "Presenting Science" on one occasion. It is better to leave some time between the two.
