Presenting Science

This is a highly interactive workshop about communicating and presenting research. We use a mix of practical exercises, discussion and presentation practice to help you strengthen your authentic professional voice and help you get your message across with confidence and impact.

• Gain an insight into the subtleties of verbal and non-verbal communication
• Explore how balancing internal and external awareness can help you connect with your audience
• Assess your own presentation strengths and weaknesses and try out new ways of communicating
• Build on and practice the English language of presentation
• Learn strategies for dealing with difficult or provocative questions
• Design and use PowerPoint slides more effectively
• Develop confidence and enjoyment in public speaking

Participants are requested to prepare a short slide presentation (5-8 min.) 2 weeks before the workshop begins.

It is not recommended to take both courses "Speaking with Confidence & Impact" AND "Presenting Science" on one occasion. It is better to leave some time between the two.
